EN 17860-5 Shaped to Include Series Hybrid Systems

Without clear inclusion in EN 17860-5, emerging technologies such as series hybrid systems risk being overlooked or misclassified. LEVA-EU works to safeguard innovation and prevent regulations from becoming commercial barriers for new LEV technologies.

LEVA-EU proactively ensured that series hybrid systems were included in EN 17860-5, so they are not excluded from the regulatory framework governing electric carrier cycles.

By engaging directly with technical committees and stakeholders, LEVA-EU represented manufacturers’ needs and ensured fair treatment of innovative transmission systems. This collaboration created shared understanding and alignment across the sector.

Thanks to LEVA-EU’s involvement, the final EN 17860-5 standard now provides:
